We Did it!

We finally got married!

10 years later, a 4 year engagement, 2 postponed weddings, we finally made it! The reason we’ve been so quiet is because every waking moment has been consumed with wedding planning!

We were meant to have our summer Italian Tuscan wedding, but after many uncertainties, we changed it to Scotland in February. Scotland has alway stolen our hearts, we nearly eloped there last year after the first postponement. We love the mountains, the scenery, you can have a humanist ceremony and get legally married outside. Something I now believe Wales and England are making legal (another good thing to come from covid).

Our actual wedding was in a beautiful setting just on the Scottish Borders with 40 of our closest friends and family. We had the best time before moving onto Glencoe where me and Tom had the most amazing day up in the mountains with our photographer. I absolutely loved this day! It was just me and Tom. No pressures, no worries, we actually just got to enjoy each other’s company all day and enjoy the just married vibes.

We had one photographer for our wedding day, Sarah Horton because I loved the bright airy style, and Oli and Steph for Glencoe, to capture the dark, dramatic mountains, as well as knowing where to go. Our awesome videographer, Harrison Fletcher, not only did our wedding, but he was so interested in Glencoe, he came too. And the results were just incredible.

The photography and videography were no doubt our biggest expense, and I deliberated especially the videographer. Did we need one, would we watch it. I can 100% say, that I am OVER THE MOON with our videos so far! We haven’t had the whole lot back yet but I can’t stop watching what we already have. Videography style is very personal and it took me weeks to find a style (and price) that I could work with. Take the time to watch plenty of videos (or in my case, one of my bridesmaid loves watching these videos, so I gave her this task!) Take a look below at Harrison’s incredible 1 minute teaser.

Two days after the actual wedding, we got dressed back up again and headed into the mountains of Glencoe for our photoshoot with Oli and Steph. Based in Skye and specialising in elopements, these guys were prepared for everything! We had dry robes to keep warm, hand warmers, hot drinks and snacks. They were just amazing! And the photos…..well they were more than epic, prepare for Game of Thrones vibe.

I would highly recommend everyone doing this! It was so so nice just to have you two, enjoying time together and soaking up the atmosphere. Plus everyone we saw made us feel so special! To top it off, we felt like we had starred in our own movie with the epic content that Harrison had created, check it out….

I don’t think I will ever stop talking about how amazing Sarah, Oli, Steph and Harrison were, because quite frankly, they were. The content speaks for itself! I am in awe of the creativity of these people and the patience they all have on such a high pressured, chaotic day.

My advice to anyone about to get married, enjoy the day, take time for you two. Do the photos, videos, and just take everything in! I am happy to chat all things wedding being the organised freak I am, and I now have my wedding budget sheet to download from Etsy.

However, it is meant to be a dog blog, and of course Winston was at the wedding….
